what I’ve learned (this week)

1. Looking through the history of a bill and then subsequent rewrites of the same bill makes me head literally ache. I don’t think I envy anyone in Olympia right now.

2. WAC, RCW and a million more initials that have meaning to Washington State law also boggles me at times. Again, I still don’t think I envy anyone in Olympia right now.

3. I’m thankful that I know who to call and who to write to should I have a valid concern or question. I wonder how many other people know that information or even care. You know what? Any WA state legislator who would volunteer for me to have the opportunity to shadow them for a day and then I’ll write the story about what that day includes (after taking a week long nap) please leave me a comment below. Bonus points if you’re within the 26th legislative district. Double bonus if your name is Tim Sheldon.

4. Sometimes, it’s really hard to get people thinking and engaging and involving themselves so that they tell you their viewpoint. No, not necessarily viewpoint, but why they have that viewpoint. Sure, I’d like to hear others views. I have no qualms about that. More importantly though, I’d like to hear why you hold said viewpoint because I just might learn something.

5. I actually do not fall asleep plotting who I am going to highly irritate next. I mostly fall asleep entirely exhausted from holding down a semblance of a life plus reading and digesting information. In other news, I’m going to finish reading that book by Gregg Olsen yet. I have a few others I want to finish as well and I still haven’t finished watching all of 2012. Maybe I should read a book on effective time management.

6. This is an important one to me, so I hope you haven’t fallen asleep yet. Reportedly this morning there were three more earthquakes in Chile. Do you know what to do in case of some bad act of Mother Nature? See this site and please know that I’m not giving you some weird democrat link. I’m giving you the link to the Kitsap Department of Emergency Management. Read some cool information and be prepared.
