I’m a first time ’87 voter
So OFA-WA (Organizing for America-Washington state) wants to hear from people who are new voters this time around. I think I’ll share my story of how I registered to vote. It’s that good.
I’m in this class with a teacher I can’t really stand. He’s really rotten but I need his class to graduate so I’ll do my best to be nice. One day we have someone come to talk to us. Thank heavens, because said teacher had this annoying drone along with the lack of personality. hold a grudge long there, Johanna?
Karen Flynn, who was Kitsap County Auditor at the time, came and spoke to us. I remember being enthralled about listening to what her job was and why it was important to vote. It’s hard to capture my attention sometimes, but I was truly inspired by her to register to vote straight away. I was 17 at the time, but received the card when I turned 18. What a great day that was and get this, I still own that original voter card.
I told you it was good. If you’re a new voter and want to share your story with OFA-WA, email them here .
