movin on up!

So yes, I finally sat down and took the necessary time to update everything except my actual template. Who knows, I might get creative this evening and look for a fresh design. I don’t know. Either way, I’m making one more post happen tonight. I will start with a picture of the local atmosphere.

an idea

your local atmosphere

I love this business and their idea. But with their idea comes questions of course. I believe my first question is this.

So hypothetically speaking, say I wanna run for Jan Angel’s seat. I do so, win, serve my six years, then decide I wanna run for Derek Kilmer’s seat. I run, serve my six years because I won, then decide I want to run for Chris Gregoire’s seat. I win there too, I get my six years, then, you know what, I’m feeling the need to unseat someone say like, Norm Dicks. I could continue on my scenario on up to the POTUS, but do you see where I am going? Sure, this person is just talking congressional term limits, but do we extend them to just Congress, or any other elected official as we see fit?

Second question I have here. Say again, I’m elected, and in my six years I do magnificent work. I make connections with others, work hard to serve my constituency the best I can and represent them well, and make things happen. Six years later, I’m auto-removed and we get someone new in to represent for us. That person, in my estimation, would be serving at the lower end of the echelon and how much could they get accomplished in six years of service, just to be replaced by someone else? And if I’m auto-kicked, can I serve somewhere/anywhere else?

Do I agree with Congressional term limits? I’m not entirely sure if I do or not. In all honesty, yes, I could see some people who have as I so bluntly put it “warmed a chair waaaay too long” and should move along. However, there’s others I see in the political landscape who have really put forth an incredible job and I’d like to see them continue their work. For how long and how true do I see them holding to their beliefs as opposed to a main “party” belief? Again, it’s a hard one to call.

Here’s my last question. Say I’m Joe Constituent and I believe that Congressional term limits is a good thing and I’d like it introduced into the current legislative session. How would I get that moving or better yet, who would I need to contact to initiate the ball rolling? Oh sure, I can place my idea on a billboard or even here on my blog, but how would I get it to someone who would listen and potentially get that legislation moving forward? I wonder. Do you?
