Here We Go

Friday, May 28th, 2010

I’d really like a blog within POI. I’d like to write angry posts and call myself “Just Hannie Again”. Not as catchy as others, but who cares. I’d like a weekly opportunity to let my anger and frustration out on a bigger landscape than my own. I don’t know, maybe we could get a stronger readership that way. Bah. Probably not.

With that, let’s hear about this. My all time favorite espresso stand Lighthouse Espresso was robbed. I’m not even thrilled. The building has gone through some good and not so good owners in the past. We all know this. But the current owners are wonderful giving people who were working hard to not only earn back your trust after the previous mess, but also giving to the direct community around us. We knew every girl who worked there and we knew the owners because they’d be there often greeting us and telling us great stories. One of the owners is a retired USMC veteran if I recall it right. His pride and patriotism is just like why we should celebrate the fourth of July every day. I kid you not.

Some moron decided to take these people’s pride and joy from them. You know what moron, I hope you’re found and caught. I hope you have a great reason as to why you did it. And I surely hope you’re prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

You see, out in those parts of South Kitsap, we’re all like family. We all have someone we know who is a small business owner out our way. They’re like family to us as well. When you take from them, you take from us and we really don’t take that kindly to that sorta behavior.

Lighthouse Espresso & staff: I’m so sorry for your loss. Please don’t dissuade you from going away. You guys were the best kept secret of our little area.

a darker side of something.

Growing up in South Kitsap, I’ve seen some scary stuff. The Colchester curve still creeps me out to this day, because so many accidents happen there. Some parts of Olalla creep me out something fierce. The drive to Manchester State Park creeps me out because of a story told me during my childhood as well. I don’t know and have never confirmed if that story was true or not. Still creepy. I had a high school teacher who was neighbors with a very young Ted Bundy. Yes, that creeped me out too, the stories he would tell about that experience. My point is, not everything in Port Orchard is happiness and love and Cedar Cove. No, there’s more than that and I’m going to speak to that. His name is Gregg Olsen, he too is an author and he calls Port Orchard home as well. (more…)

mmm, smell the bacon.

So the other day, I’m perusing the Port Orchard Republican and I come across this cute little letter. It was written by one David Kimsey, who, as it turns out, is employed by Wet Apple Publishing. Mr Kimsey, I offer you this. Perhaps, if you could get me gainful employment with your employer and I’m not forced to write rhetoric dribble much more nauseating than my own, I will retract my comment. If you’d also like to write an outstanding letter of reference to the Port Orchard Independent with a cc to Charlie Bermant I still might consider it. Last, but not least, please call Lary and tell him Happy belated Halloween to him and I’m sorry I did not visit either of his residences for trick or treat action. Truly, I apologize because my treat would have been an “Approve 71″ card for him. I’m not sure if he would have appreciated it, or me for that matter, but that’s okay, the holidays are right around the corner and I know Lary’s looking forward to my treat basket for him and his adorable grandson. (I kid you not, Lary does have a precious grandson that I have met.)

Let’s drop that gavel, shall we? Let’s drop it good and see exactly what’s going on here. I’ll start with this fun piece of paper called
the election thank you speech. Crunch all you want, we got more here. I’m serious about this offer to get a nice cushy job at Wet Apple..I am. Maybe you could convince someone there I need to write about people in Port Orchard and only the ones I *deem* worthy enough to talk about. Don’t worry, I grew up in South Kitsap and I have a lengthy list to choose from. Note that I said “South Kitsap” as opposed to “Port Orchard” because although I have a Port Orchard address, I actually live in unincorporated Kitsap County. No worries, next year, I plan on getting a residence within the city of Port Orchard, making some stencil signs and announcing my write in candidacy as mayor of Port Orchard. If you’re free Mr Kimsey, perhaps you could be my campaign manager and smack certain members of the press of Port Orchard around the minute they write something negative about me. Speaking of them, in case my comment to this letter is removed (because it can and probably will be) let’s make sure people see it.

My comment: Although I appreciate that warm sentiment about Amy, I’d like to know where she was during the process in which WSDOT was talking about their *new plan* for our highways. Oh yes, she was busy writing letters and not paying attention to the fact that Lary himself was darn near having a heart attack as was most of the current STANDING city council members, Fred Chang included. I’m sure you got one of those great thank you letters, and perhaps you could clear the air by letting us know if you’re the same David Kimsey stated here. http://electlary.com/press/downloads/2007-11-06… If you are, could you please let me know how I get in with the Coppola family as the “go to” person when stuff needs to be done and going somewhere? Thanks lots.
Last but not least, although you work in Port Orchard, do you live in Port Orchard? My license says “Port Orchard” but *I’m* not within city limits so I couldn’t cast a vote for city council one way or the other. *sniffle*

One last little tidbit. There’s a strong difference between “grandstanding” and “asking informative questions and paying attention”. Buy me some of Amy’s crabcakes sometime (they are quite good) and I’ll educate you as to the difference. Serious, I am the cheapest date you’ll ever know. Go ahead and ask all my friends in Port Orchard/South Kitsap about that.
